At DuskByte, we solve the "impossible" migrations. We take mission-critical systems built on everything from legacy Visual Basic and Perl to modern Go and Node.js, and we transition them into resilient, cloud-native environments. As a Cloud-Native Systems Engineer, you are the bridge between decades of software evolution and the future of cloud scalability.
What You Will Do (The Role)
Cross-Stack Analysis
Audit and containerize legacy applications written in Java, .NET, PHP, and Ruby on Rails.
Modernization Engineering
Port legacy logic from Perl or Visual Basic into modern, serverless, or microservice architectures using GoLang, Node.js, or Python.
Multi-Cloud Architecture
Design and deploy production environments across AWS, GCP, and Azure, focusing on high availability and data sovereignty.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
Use Terraform and Ansible to create cloud-agnostic deployments that prevent vendor lock-in.
Automated Migration Pipelines
Build CI/CD systems that handle the complexity of polyglot codebases with automated security and regression testing.
The Polyglot Tech Stack
We don't expect you to be a master of all, but you must be a specialist in at least three and capable of navigating the rest:
The Modern Layer
Node.js, GoLang, Python
The Enterprise Layer
Java (Spring), .NET (Core/Framework)
The Web Evolution Layer
PHP (Laravel/Symfony), Ruby on Rails
The Legacy Core
Perl, Visual Basic / VB.NET
The Cloud Trinity
Deep architectural knowledge of AWS, GCP, and Azure
Who You Are (Requirements)
The "Systems Thinker"
You don't just write code; you understand how code interacts with the OS, the network, and the cloud provider.
Cloud-Agnostic Mindset
You know that a "Lambda" in AWS, a "Cloud Function" in GCP, and an "Azure Function" all solve the same problem—but you know the subtle risks of each.
Legacy Respect
You don't mock "old" code; you respect the business value it has provided for decades and know how to extract that value into a modern container.
Experience
8+ years of experience in Backend or Systems Engineering with a proven track record of migrating legacy workloads to the cloud.
Why This Role is Unique at Duskbyte
You won't be bored. One week you might be refactoring a Java monolith into AWS Fargate; the next, you might be wrapping a legacy API in a Node.js gateway on Azure. You are the ultimate problem solver for the enterprise.
